Pressing Flowers

Over the next few weeks I am going to be producing some fun family ideas that you can do during covid 19.

First I would like to mention that in one week today (30th June) is the deadline of a contest where you enter your idea for an environmentally friendly design, could you help make the world a better place? If you win you have a budget of up to £10,000 to make your idea, do not worry if you are not sure how to make your idea as you will have a team to help you along the way! Please note you have to be in the age range of 9-18.

Today I am pressing flowers, if you want to try this out yourself, here is how to do it.

Gather some flowers from the garden (best not to pick wild flowers, though a clover should be fine) and lay them out in a flower press or heavy book, with paper or cardboard each side to stop staining the book. Make sure the flowers are nice and tight.

Leave for 2-3 weeks.

I will update you when I’m done!
